Jody Cooke © 2014 All Rights Reserved This mandala is part of the Robby Series. After the passing of Robby O'Brien (a great artist specializing in the medium of markers, my medium of choice as well) there was a shift in my mandala designing. I expected I would be different and my work would reflect that after seeing the hundreds of drawings this man had created over his short life. Even though it is not a direct influence from his art I saw at the memorial service, there is a mysterious link back to him in my new approach. The Robby Series has a distinct border design around the mandala, usually colored squares. Any designing out from that point to the edge is delicate and does not reach the matt board, something my husband has been suggesting for awhile. I have to agree...it's nice to have the spiritual space, instead of my usual need to fill every little spot up with design elements. Here's another one for Robby!

AuthorHello, and welcome to my website. My name is Jody Cooke and I am a designer living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I have been an artist in some form or another for over thirty years. My new passion is mandalas! Since I learned about them in January 2013, I have created over 1,500 (black and white) of these circular patterns and over 160 full color. Some are very small and sketchy, most are 8 inches in diameter, currently I am creating on 24" x 18" paper (transitioning into a Lotus Mandala series as of summer 2017) and one is a 24 inch square acrylic mandala painting on canvas. Definitely not my preferred medium..but I gave it a try! CategoriesArchive
